TMI RECOGNIZES SPECIAL COMMUNITY PARTNERS
TMI RECOGNIZES SPECIAL COMMUNITY PARTNERS
On September 19, 2011 Toward Maximum Independence presented Community Appreciation Awards to San Diego Regional Center Service Coordinators Andrea Cannon, John Filey and Febe Luna. Such awards are given by TMI periodically to professionals and partners in the community who work extra hard at helping our consumers achieve their goals of independence, self-sufficiency, and vocational accomplishment.
In this case, all of these award recipients were selected for their special efforts on behalf of young people who participate in the TMI Family Support Program, most of whom live in foster homes that TMI oversees. See below is a statement regarding each person’s accomplishments.
Andrea Cannon: SDRC Service Coordinator
Andrea Cannon is a Service Coordinator for the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC) who has greatly contributed to the success of those we serve by acting as a liaison for new placements in the South Bay area. She so graciously donates her time and expertise to instruct and guide other service coordinators in completing appropriate paperwork, as well as assisting them on following proper protocol and procedures. She also has greatly assisted in the resolution of very challenging situations involving the stability of our foster children and for that we are so grateful.
Thank you Andrea for your exceptional dedication!
John Filey: SDRC Service Coordinator
Although John Filey has not been with SDRC for very long he has come in “taking the bull by the horns”. His professionalism, experience and knowledge of the population of people with developmental disabilities have proven to be invaluable. He proceeds with such passion and care that anyone could see that working with our consumers is very dear to his heart. He advocates as if each consumer was his own child. In a short time he has resolved so many issues that others could not. He also recently volunteered to give presentations to our clinical team, foster parents and foster children regarding transitioning our consumers into adulthood.
Thank you John for caring so much!
Febe Luna: SDRC Service Coordinator
Febe Luna has been with SDRC for many years and is highly respected within and outside her agency. She is known to us as one of the most ethical and honest individuals we have had the pleasure of working with. She is also the epitome of a team player and has the professional ability bring everyone to the table to decide the best for those we serve. Although she is petite in stature she packs a big punch when advocating. We greatly appreciate your wonderful service on behalf of our consumers, Febe. Thank you!
