ACTION NEEDED TO PROTECT PROGRAM FUNDING
ACTION NEEDED TO PROTECT PROGRAM FUNDING
The California Legislature is now considering what the budget for 2012-2013 will look like and COMMUNICATION WITH LEGISLATORS IS ESSENTIAL TO PROTECT FUNDING FOR SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.
See the two flyers attached by clicking on the title of the flier that is in blue:
TAKE ACTION!: This flyer provides action steps that can be taken to communicate with legislators about the need to fund services for people with developmental disabilities. The more legislators here from us, our consumers, and consumer families, our colleagues in the industry, and our various political action groups, the more likely they are to do what we hope they will.
Sunset the 4.24% Rate Reduction: This flyer provides some valuable talking points to share with legislators. We realize we can't just ask for more and more money. So this flyer provides ideas about ways the state can save money while still providing the essential funding for services that people with disabilities and their families depend on. These are good ideas and sharing them with legislators will help our cause. Many of the ideas that have been presented to people in government this way in the past have been implemented—they need our ideas, suggestions and input to make positive changes in the system.
Please feel free to reproduce this material and to pass it out to consumers, families, and anyone who is involved in or concerned about services for people with developmental disabilities.
