Why Donate to TMI?

TMI depends mostly on funds from the State of California for our funding. We are grateful to be in a state where the laws recognize the special needs of children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities, and provides money to respond to them. On the other hand, as you probably know, California has been experiencing a multi-year financial crisis, with huge deficits that must be somehow dealt with in each successive year's budget.

The result is funding cuts for services such as those offered by Toward Maximum Independence. The cuts make it difficult to continue to provide our legacy services, which include assisting consumers to live independently in their own homes, and vocational services that open doors to employment. We are mission-driven, and continue to provide these services even in the face of financial challenges. Your generous financial support helps us to continue to fulfill this important mission. Because Toward Maximum Independence (TMI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization your donation may be tax deductible (consult with your tax professional for more details. Three Ways to Donate to TMI

1. You may send us a check for any amount you can afford.

2. Using our online donation system and click here: Donate or any of the "Donate to TMI" buttons found on bottom of every page. The online system allows you to make a donation to TMI using PayPal.

3. Finally, you can donate a car, truck or boat to TMI. For more information about vehicle donation see below.

Donating a Car, Truck or Boat to TMI

You may donate a vehicle or boat to TMI and we make the process simple. Call us today and our towing truck can come out as soon as tomorrow to pick up your vehicle and take it off your hands. Even if the vehicle doesn't run or is unregistered we'll take care of everything. We'll provide you with paperwork indicating that you donated your vehicle to TMI. Our vehicle donation service will then sell the car, truck or boat at auction. TMI gets the net proceeds, and we then provide you with documentation of the exact dollar amount of your donation. It's as simple as that.
