Prospective Employers

Are you open to having employees with disabilities working for you? The conventional wisdom about people with disabilities, sadly, is based on fear, myths and prejudice, and not on facts.
Do you believe the old saw that "having a disabled employee will raise your insurance costs"? That one's not true. Or how about the one about "people with disabilities being unreliable"? Nope, not true either. There are, unfortunately, dozens of these out there, and because people have heard them from others, they think that somehow they "must be true" because "everyone" knows them. Well, how much of what everyone knows just ain't so?
See the list of myths and facts at this website, you may be surprised: Mass. gov
Our experience at TMI is that employees who are people with developmental disabilities are hardworking, reliable and often surprise people both with their dedication to their jobs and their ability to learn new tasks.
For more information about hiring a person with a disability, contact Mr. Jessie Campbell at 467-0600 ext 353. He's the Director of Supported Employment at TMI. He and his team have worked with dozens of employers who have accepted people with disabilities into their workforce - and been happy with the result.
