FAMILY FOCUSED SUPPORTS
TMI strives first and foremost to support birth or natural families to keep their children at home. Often families will find that the challenge of raising a child with a significant physical, behavioral or cognitive disability leaves them feeling alone.
TMI is able to assist families tackle difficult decisions, obtain the relief and support they need, assist with the development of effective disciplinary and positive parenting strategies, and help families become better connected to their neighborhood communities and schools.

Services offered within Family Focused Supports include, but are not limited to:

  • intensive supports to families of origin
  • training for parents, extended families and respite providers
  • development of personal futures and transition plans
  • assistance to families at IEP and IPP meetings
  • behavioral support in the home, community and school by licensed clinician
  • 24 hour emergency backup support
  • assistance to families in developing ongoing natural and professional supports, as well as other community resources
  • support to families of origin to keep their children at home, preventing out of home placement when it is in everyone’s best interest
  • support groups for parents and siblings
