COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES

INDEPENDENT LIVING
We believe that anyone can live in a home of his or her own if given the support and assistance needed to be successful. Living in the community, however, goes well beyond having "your own place." It is also about being an active participant in the life of your neighborhood. TMI can assist a person who desires this new interdependence to find housing, access utilities, join a community association, club, or place of worship and meet people who can, hopefully, over time become friends. Certainly there are skills to be gained which will add to the person's quality of life, such as managing a budget, paying bills, planning and preparing meals or housekeeping. Services offered within Independent Living include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing support in a person’s home and community, anywhere from 2 hours to 66 hours per month
  • Parenting skills
  • Financial assistance, budgeting, and bill paying
  • Community orientation, participation and safety
  • Menu/meal planning, shopping and food preparation
    Self advocacy
  • Accessing generic resources
  • House/apartment maintenance
  • Individualized supports based on a persons needs and preferences
  • Apartment/house hunting and transition assistance
  • Health maintenance and medication management
