Donaven Yousif

Vice Chair

As a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones in La Mesa, Donaven helps successful professionals, business owners, and retirees make thoughtful decisions when money and life become complicated.

Born and raised in San Diego, Donaven is a first-generation American, which shaped how seriously he takes responsibility, trust, and stewardship. Many of his clients already had financial advisors. What they wanted was someone to connect the dots, coordinate decisions, and provide clarity when life changed.

His approach centers on what he calls "Return on Life" planning. He has learned that financial decisions are rarely just about money—they are about families, relationships, and the people affected by the choices we make today. That is why his work focuses on helping clients create continuity through life's transitions.

This belief was shaped by life experience. During the Great Recession, while working in a retirement community, Donaven watched retirees lose the security they thought was permanent. At the same time, he watched his father lose the business he had spent years building.

Years later, during the COVID pandemic, Donaven's family experienced the sudden loss of his father-in-law. He was helping care for his mother, a responsibility he carried for many years before, during, and after hospice.

Those experiences taught Donaven that major life events rarely affect one person alone. They ripple through families, finances, and futures. Planning cannot prevent every challenge, but it can help families prepare, reduce the burden on the people they love, and make decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

Today, Donaven helps clients prepare for life's important transitions and navigate them when they come. Working with CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals, he helps families stay organized, make thoughtful decisions, and keep their financial lives aligned with what matters most.

Outside the office, Donaven serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Toward Maximum Independence, a nonprofit that helps individuals build greater independence and opportunity in their communities. His wife, Ashley, their son, Alex, and their dog, Rocky, remind him daily that financial decisions are ultimately about people.

His Senior Branch Office Administrator, Krissy, helps create the thoughtful experience their clients deserve.
