Congratulations to Toward Maximum Independence (TMI) Integrated Work Job Coach Angel Segura on celebrating 10 years supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our direct support staff are invaluable to our organization. Angel is a shining example of what it means to fulfill our vision that achieving valued roles, making critical life-defining decisions, gaining the respect of others, and contributing to the life of the community are opportunities enjoyed by all citizens.

“My favorite thing about working at TMI is being a part of a great organization that supports people with developmental disabilities,” said Angel. “This makes my soul feel good. My eyes have opened more and I wish to do more to voice our client’s concerns.”
Angel is a Job Coach at the Balboa Park Japanese Friendship Garden. He feels that every day he is dealt a challenge card, as are his clients. Their major obstacle is obtaining volunteer work sites in hopes of finding job placements for his clients. Angel’s dream is that all of TMI’s clients prosper and gain the social status they are trying so hard to accomplish.
“Angel makes an outstanding Job Coach, because he is self-disciplined and self-motivated and truly cares about our clients,” said TMI Integrated Work Division Manager Anas Alobaidi.
In Angel’s free time he enjoys visiting his family and playing musical instruments. He also loves to play tennis and golf once a week. His biggest inspirations are his mother and brother.
“If it weren't for them, my support for my clients would go forgotten and then eventually be ineffective,” added Angel.
Angel would like to encourage everyone to attend a TMI event! “The feeling when you leave, I guarantee it will make you feel great inside and out,” said Angel.
