Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Our Cherished Client Alicia

Toward Maximum Independence (TMI) is deeply saddened by the passing of our client Alicia. As a longtime team member with the Job Options program, Alicia spent more than 12 years working at the San Ysidro International Point of Entry (SYPOE) location with the dedicated support of the TMI Supported Employment program.

Alicia was known by her coworkers, supervisors, and TMI Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) as a kind, dependable person who was always willing to help others. She consistently completed her work responsibilities without complaint, maintaining a positive attitude throughout the day. Over the years, many staff members noted that Alicia was friendly with everyone she encountered. She built a strong rapport with employees and officers at her worksite, many of whom greeted her warmly each day.

Coworkers described Alicia as someone who never hesitated to take on assigned tasks and who collaborated beautifully with others. Though quiet at times, her presence, friendliness, and willingness to assist whenever needed made a lasting impression. Her TMI DSPs frequently highlighted their positive interactions with her, noting her respectful communication and cooperative nature.

Those who knew Alicia also remember how fondly and often she spoke of her mother and family. It was always clear that she cared deeply for the people closest to her and treasured those relationships.

While Alicia’s loss is profoundly felt, her memory remains woven into the many years she spent as part of TMI and the meaningful relationships she developed over time.

TMI extends its sincere condolences to Alicia’s family, friends, coworkers, and everyone whose life she touched. She will be remembered with great appreciation and respect for the positive spirit and kindness she brought to the world around her. May she rest in peace.
