Sandy's Story: Celebrating World Down Syndrome Awareness Day

Updated: Mar 16, 2022

Sandy, who is 56, hasn't let Down syndrome stop her from living a full life! She has worked at the Toward Maximum Independence (TMI) San Diego office as an Office Aide for 25 years this month. Sandy is with our Integrated Work program, as well as our Supported Living program. She is very independent and an inspiration to us all!

On World Down Syndrome Day today and every day we celebrate her and all individuals with Down syndrome and their contributions to our world. Congratulations, Sandy! We ❤️ you!

Toward Maximum Independence (TMI) has been transforming the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1981 and the deaf and hard of hearing since 2000. Like all of us, our clients are born with hopes, dreams and the drive to contribute to society. TMI strives to help our clients to realize their hopes and dreams by providing Employment Solutions, Community Living Services and Family Support Services throughout San Diego, Riverside and Imperial Counties.
